With all of the press in the news recently on high levels of mercury in Tuna and the association between high meat diets and infertility, it is no wonder even die-hard carnivores are second guessing tonight’s dinner. While there is no need to give up on animal protein completely, it sure doesn’t hurt to add some more green to your plate. Just be sure to get adequate protein in your diet, since it tends to get trickier when you eliminate meat and fish. And no, this doesn’t give you license to eat all the refined carbs and junk food you want!

Hateball Practice The following is a transcript of an actual phone call. My cell phone rings. “Hello?” I say. The voice, tight with frustration begins. “I did not sign up for this! It’s @*(*(^ freezing out here. My newspaper is ready to be used for papier-mâché. My lower appendages…didn’t know that I have them. Oh wait, there they are. Can’t feel ‘em! If I had wanted to be this cold, we could live in Minnesota where I could prance in the snow….naked.” There is a pause and I hear a breath being sucked into the deep caverns of the caller’s lungs. I half expect to hear the raspy, sexy voice of a (900) number.

In our efforts to green things up this year, we’ve noticed that one of our biggest contributors of waste comes via the mailbox. While we’re all for a handwritten letter or a surprise care package, we get way too much unsolicited junk that goes straight up the stairs into the recycling bin. From direct mailings, catalogs that we haven’t looked at in years, or billing statements that we view online anyway it all adds up to a big waste.

My son will be 11 weeks this coming tuesday- I had a question about his daytime napping….I do not let him stay up longer than 2 hours after he wakes…after noticing signs of sleepiness i put him down – he only naps 45 minutes to an hour at a time-when he wakes up crying and i go to get him he still seems cranky and tired, but wont go back to sleep…..i feel like he isn’t napping long enough but i can’t MAKE him sleep- any suggestions???he eats every 3 hours…any suggestions would be great – thanks!
