My husband and I have been flirting with the idea of adding another chick to our roost lately. I mean, you can’t just have one kid, right? We’re both very clear on how babies are made but neither of us are 100% committed enough to getting me knocked up.

Lately I have become increasingly aware of a disturbing trend. It isn’t so much a trend as an epidemic; a pandemic of epic proportions. Well, at least it seems that way to me—the mother of a little boy. The problem?
Girls.

One of my guilty pleasures in life has always been the slow, methodical dunk of the Oreo cookie into a tall, cold glass of milk. A picture is worth a thousand words.
Unless of course, it is being held hostage in a digital camera or on a slow running, overburdened hard drive. In such a case, a picture is worth zilch.
A few months before our son was born my parents bought me a digital camera. The Radio Shack guy talked them into purchasing a charger and rechargeable batteries. Apparently the Shack knew nothing about memory cards. Michael and I soon figured out the glaring difference between having a 512 MB memory card and a 1 GB. We were filling our memory card with 25-30 photos. We soon invested in a larger card and now take 200 snapshots of our life at any given time.

This week, in fond memory and admiration, I find my inspiration for Out-Numbered in the strong spirit of Jordan I. Lane, affectionately known to my girls as PJ.
Six year old: “Daddy?”
Me: “Yes baby.”
Six year old: “Do people go to heaven when they die?”
Me: “I think they go to some place nice.”
Six year old: “Do they go to heaven?”
Me: “I’m not sure if they go to heaven but it’s definitely a place that’s nice.”

No cranberry sauce or mashed potatoes—sweet or otherwise. No pumpkin or apple pie and not necessarily turkey either. Did I mention eating with your hands? What kind of Thanksgiving is this?
It’s the first one, which took place in Plimouth Colony in Massachusetts in 1621.

Wondering what to do with all those Thanksgiving leftovers? Here are 2 great ideas depending on how you’re feeling on the “day after”.
Thanksgiving Cobb Salad
If you’re still full from Thanksgiving day, you will love the Thanksgiving Cobb. Cobb salad is usually made with lettuce, grilled chicken, bacon, egg, tomato and blue cheese. In this version, to make it a little bit healthier and use up some of those Thanksgiving leftovers, substitute turkey for the grilled chicken and roasted sweet potatoes for the bacon.
