2009- Year of the Mom and a 5k

Back in January, this blogger declared 2009 the ‘Year of the Mom’.  I went along with it and made a few plans.  Aside from losing all the post-baby weight I decided that I wanted to run a 5k.  I love to run and have done it off and on for many years. In fact, just before this second kid I was at the top of my running game.  I had never felt so good or motivated in my life.  Then in my first trimester I went on my usual run and hit the wall only two minutes in and puked right there on the sidewalk.  This new baby I was carrying was no runner and despite my later efforts I could never do it again while pregnant.

Fast foward to now and I’m six months post-baby.  I’m slowly getting back into running. And I mean s-loo-w-ly.  I find that I’m yearning for more run time though.  Then I happened upon this little challenge and I’ve decided to go for it.  In six short weeks I’ll go from couch to 5k.  Can I do it? I sure as hell hope so!  If I can’t it is only me that will feel the burn of my failure and crashed hopes and dreams.  Then again, I am my worst critic.  Looks like I’m just going to have to go for it.
