This is a tribute. Kind of… As we all know, last weekend was Mother’s Day. Families across the country were paying homage to their beloved wives and moms in every possible way you can imagine. Kids were handing out crappy glass bunnies and ugly silk flowers like Dixie cups at a sperm bank. Husbands were giving away gift certificates for salons and day spas that their wives will never have the time to redeem. Mothers and daughters alike were collaborating and making memories in the kitchen with their special, super duper, Duncan Hines Angel Food Cake recipes. Ahhh Hallmark, you’ve done it again. Go ahead and pat yourself on your recycled paper back.

Ahhh my most imperfect parenting moment… We were in the WalMart parking lot, having just bought tons of stuff for the new puppy that we also just bought. I had my baby in the baby seat clipped into the wagon and my toddler in the basket part of the wagon. I turned my back to put the bags in the trunk and heard a crash. As I turned I was slammed in the knees by something hard and hit the trunk. I looked up to see my toddler sitting on the pavement unhurt but couldn’t find my baby and I was screaming for her. I started to step forward only to trip over her carrier… with her in it, she was looking at me like I was a moron! My son had tried to climb out, and had tipped the wagon over, as it was tipping he pushed his sisters seat off the wagon so it wouldn’t fall on her (he told me this after) and he jumped. I was only facing away for 30sec or less, but man little kids move fast. I had bruises all over my legs from being slammed by projectile infant carrier and infant!

With three kids is it possible to narrow it down to the most imperfect moment?? I have imperfect moments on a daily basis. When my middle child was a baby I had to go do my errands. My oldest child was two and the baby was about two months. I invited my sister in law (and her daughter who was a couple of months older than my younger son) to join us. I packed a diaper bag full of clothes and such, but he just kept spitting up/having leaky diapers/every other thing they do to make us change their clothes a dozen times a day. When we pulled up to our last stop, the grocery store, I noticed he had a dirty diaper. So, I went to change it and it had leaked a bit….enough that his clothes HAD to be changed. Well, I searched my bag, but was out of clothes!!! Luckily my SIL had a spare outfit (her daughter was small, my son was large, so the size difference was no issue)….unluckily, it was PINK!!! I had to take my son into the grocery store with a pink outfit on. My husband still doesn’t know (eight years later) and neither does my son….I hope to keep it that way!

With Mother’s Day 2009 behind us, and all the perfect mother hype that goes with it, we need a dose of reality. We’re looking for you to share the 5 reasons why you’re not a perfect mother. Because as we all know…there’s no such thing! Here are my top five:
1. I sleep later in the morning than both of my kids. A matter of fact, I don’t even set an alarm because I count on them to wake me up!
