If you have no idea what I’m talking about, you are probably one of a million other mamas reading this (how’d ya like how I assume millions read this blog–funny, eh?).

I am the last of my close friends to begin making babies. Er, in my case…a baby. Most of my childhood/college friends married in their early twenties and had babies soon after. Michael and I met in our early twenties, we married in our mid-twenties and when I had Benjamin, I was 32. Compared to most of my friends, I feel like an old mom. I’m pushing forty. Pushing harder now than when I first had my new baby boy. Speaking of that new baby boy, where is he? What happened to those chubby wrists? And, the drool? Oh, I miss my diaper bag.

I remember standing at my kitchen sink swirling a Gerber bottle brush around and around, bottle after bottle, night after night. I smile when I think about measuring out formula mix, making six 8 oz. bottles every night before I went to bed–knowing I would be awake in less than an hour to dispense the first of two nightly feedings. There was a time when I felt like sobbing because it seemed like I would be cleaning and mixing and feeding forever. And just as quickly…it ended. I have been a mother for only four short years but I feel like I’ve witnessed a full lifetime of development. When well-wishers declare, “Enjoy it now, they grow up so fast,” I don’t think any new parent can possibly comprehend the weight behind that statement.

Step Two: Create a Plan
Now that you have organized your physical space in a manner that has allowed you to touch each item at least once and store all objects in designated action areas (e.g. files, baskets, etc.), you should develop an action plan to support you in anything you may need to accomplish. As I’ve mentioned before – but it is worth restating – I believe that the key to any financial plan (be it a budget, financial projection, or what have you) is an effective overall home and office management system. If your surroundings are in a chaotic state, then you are less likely to remain on track financially. What am I currently using to manage my life?

The Growing Trend In Childcare Reduction & Why Parents Are Choosing To Parent Full-Time
When my friend Ann was laid off due to turbulent American economic crisis this year, she spent the first week wondering if she’d return to work. With a full-time working husband (who happened to carry the health insurance) and two young children in daycare, she wasn’t sure what to do with herself for the first few days of “freedom”. After relishing hours in the bubble filled tub and a day curled up with a great book, she knew it was time to make a decision. She could either struggle to find a new job or she could pull the kids out of day care and instantly venture into “Stay-At-Home” land.

To make or NOT to make (resolutions), THAT is my question this year?!
This article is for moms by the way, b/c if you are not one, (no offense and no discrimination of course) you have like all the time in the world to make and carry out your little list of bettering your life. (That’s what I wanted to say, but will probably delete when it’s time to hand this over to the ‘blogosphere.’) Think of the controversy! But, let’s just think about it for a minute (moms), don’t you feel like you could stay up all day and night for the rest of your life and still not get it all done?

When used together, “kids” and “free” are two words that are magic to the ears of every parent, especially these days. And when they apply to a full day of fun, it is not to be ignored lightly.
NY Comic Con, the annual convention for comic book fans and movie and television genre enthusiasts of all sorts, comes to town in early February and they have set aside a day to focus on their youngest fans under the banner of Kids Day. Best of all, children 12 years of age and under will be admitted free.
