A Woman’s Right To Choose

Posted by: , February 11, 2010 in 9:20 am

A Womans Right To ChooseMy oldest daughter and I are very musical people.

The only thing that’s been slightly disappointing for me, from a selfish standpoint, is that our tastes in music seem to differ quite a lot.

No Hovering

Posted by: Tom Shillue, December 3, 2009 in 11:34 am

No HoveringThe other day I was shuffling through selections on my daughters new CD trying to find the song she wanted to hear. “No–uller one!” she kept saying. Why am I doing this? I never ordered my parents to find the proper song to go along with my mood. I never ordered my parents to do anything. I was afraid to speak to my dad until I was twelve, and even then it was only to ask for a “point of clarification” for something he ordered me to do.

Fairytales From the Darkside

Posted by: , November 13, 2009 in 1:21 pm

Fairytales From the DarksideSo my daughter is in the 2nd grade and one of the things they do in her class is called Snack-Story Time. Parents are supposed to pick a story, a snack and a day to come to the class to read that story and then administer the snack to the children. The hook is that if possible, you should pick a story that will tie into the snack of choice, as to make it more of an interactive experience. Sounds like fun! I obviously love stories and judging by the red indentations from my skin tight jeans, where my waistline used to be, I love snacks as well.

Thoughts About the SuperNanny Show

Thoughts About the SuperNanny Show1. The first 10 minutes are always the best, because no matter who you are, you watch in horror and think to yourself “Thank God, these are NOT my kids” or “Do they have the death penalty in that state just in case I accidentally kill those kids?”

2. 15 minutes into the show you are crying like a baby with their mother, who looks like she hasn’t showered or looked in the mirror since the last one was conceived.
