With far-flung earthbound locations firmly covered by recent children’s movies, from the kitchens of Paris to China and even Whoville, it was only a matter of time before animators reached for the stars and took us into outer space.

Cars Movie Review

Cars Movie ReviewNot just for the NASCAR dad set, Pixar’s new release “Cars” is a vehicle designed to entertain the whole family.  While it does not approach the same level of perfect storytelling as “The Incredibles” or the two “Toy Story” films, “Cars” makes it own mark and delivers the humor, the songs, the message and the dazzling animation that is expected from Pixar.

 

Lightning McQueen (Owen Wilson) is the new rookie on the track, grabbing the spotlight away from both the retiring veteran and an up and coming challenger who is willing to stop at nothing to win.  Unfortunately, McQueen is also a self-obsessed cad with an ego the size of a Mack truck.  On his way across the country to a showdown race, McQueen gets lost in Radiator Springs, a small town virtually abandoned when Route 66 was replace by a modern highway.  After tearing up the town in a wild chase, the judge, old Doc Hudson (Paul Newman), sentences him to community service requiring him to help repave Main Street.

Family watches their favorite holiday movieThe holiday season is a special time for families, providing a little time off to spend together, a chance to reflect on your faith and, of course, the chance to give presents to those who have been more nice than naughty this year (and get a few gifts as well!). And more so than any other holiday, there are many film and TV specials that you can rediscover and share with your children- perennial classics that have a timeless appeal. 

 

Conveniently, Sony just released last year “The Original Television Christmas Classics: 4 DVD Set” featuring three of the must-see TV specials-  Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, Santa Claus is Comin’ to Town! and Frosty The Snowman (along with several other titles).
