My oldest daughter and I are very musical people.
We both love to sing and perform.
For her 5th birthday, I bought her a microphone and an amplifier. She uses it all the time. We have guitars in the house, a piano, keyboards and all sorts of musical influences, that serve as a constant source of inspiration and encouragement.
The only thing that’s been slightly disappointing for me, from a selfish standpoint, is that our tastes in music seem to differ quite a lot.

The other day I was shuffling through selections on my daughters new CD trying to find the song she wanted to hear. “No–uller one!” she kept saying. Why am I doing this? I never ordered my parents to find the proper song to go along with my mood. I never ordered my parents to do anything. I was afraid to speak to my dad until I was twelve, and even then it was only to ask for a “point of clarification” for something he ordered me to do.

Driving in the car with my two daughters. My wife is at the Salon, again. We are on a mission. French Toast and Bacon at the Diner.
I have Black Sabbath playing in the CD player. I love Black Sabbath but it is obvious that my daughters do not share this passion with their Father.
Out-Numbered (Singing in Ozzy Falsetto)- “Nobody will ever let you know. When you ask the reasons why”

After two years of filming elaborate dance numbers, miniature candy-carnivals, tap-dancing robots and poolside chickens, New York’s underground rock band for kids, The Jimmies, whose sound New York Magazine describes as “bubble-gum-meets-indie,” unveiled their much-anticipated Trying Funny Stuff DVD this week exclusively at Barnes & Noble stores.

Did you mistakenly believe that the Baby Einstein videos would make your baby smarter? No need to answer the question. Disney is assuming that you did and is now offering REFUNDS! If you’ve purchased a Baby Einstein DVD any time in the last five years, you’re entitled to a full refund. Yup, you can thank the Campaign for a Commercial-Free Childhood which put pressure on Disney to stop claiming the Baby Einstein Videos were educational for infants.
Go to Disney’s Baby Einstein Website to find out how to get your money back, or trade in for a book or CD of your choice. We have no bone to pick with the Baby Einstein videos as entertainment, our kids loved them, but don’t love the deceptive advertising. It’s nice that they’re making up for it.

I am a big fan of the band The Killers. When I listen to their new album, it makes me hyper and feel more alive — like world is mine to take on. They were in New York about a month ago, and I wanted to go so badly. It was on a Tuesday at the Jones Beach Theater, about an hour east of NYC on the Atlantic Ocean. Though I had known about it for some time, it would have been difficult and expensive. So my husband and I decided to pass. When that Tuesday arrived, I still felt the excitement in the air even though I didn’t get to go. I sat through a meeting that evening, wondering what song The Killers were playing on that perfect September day. The day afterwards, I quizzed a coworker who had gone (being the young, unattached guy he is, going to the show for him was easy), asking him which songs they opened and closed with and what he liked the best. All in all, I wished I could have been there.

1. “I am the map…”
2. “I love you, you love me…” Actually ANYTHING that big purple blimp has to say makes me want to cut my veins with a very dull knife.
3. “The wheels on the bus”
4. “99 bottles…” Did anybody EVER sing this all the way till the end? If “yes”, how is the looney bin treating you?
5. “It’s small world after all”. This song should be in every David Lynch movie. Every. Single. One.

Since Friday our household has been loud. Very, very loud. Who is making all the noise? Billie Joe Armstrong, Mike Dirnt and Tre Cool.
