Posted by: Jason Mayo, May 5, 2009 in 1:13 pm

This past weekend my six year old daughter and I had a very frustrating conversation about music. It went something like this…

Six year old – “Daddy, do you like Rock music?”

Out-Numbered – “Yes baby, I love Rock music.”

Six year old – “Cool. Me too. Do you like the Jonas Brothers?”

Life Would Suck Without Her

Posted by: Jason Mayo, March 16, 2009 in 9:06 am

In 1982 I bought my first electric guitar. I was twelve years old. It was a used black Memphis. I bought it from Danny Tramantozzi. It was an absolute piece of shit. That didn’t really matter though. I pledged my skinny ass, freckled face allegiance to Heavy Metal. I would only worship the Metal Gods. Hard Rock was to be my lover and I was a one woman kind of guy.

No Stage Diving in the Kitchen

Last night Ben and I flipped on the radio while I made dinner.  To my delight, Green Day was on…singing “Brain Stew.”  It turns out we were tuned in to the cheesy 90s rock station I used to listen to in the, well, nineties.  It seems they just stuck with that era of music.

So, we commenced jumping.  We were dancing, singing and jumping around like fools.  Happy as two larks.  Ben ran upstairs and got his guitar so he could join in with the next hit, a little something from Alice in Chains.  Nice.  I miss you, Layne.  Eventually, we found ourselves dancing to YIKES, Def Leppard and some band that was some unholy cross between Nickelback and Hinder.  Er, maybe it was Hinder?
